Bulgaria: Foreign Investment Sees Double-Digit Growth in 2025

In 2025, Bulgaria recorded a significant increase in foreign capital inflows. Foreign direct investment reached approximately €3.26 billion, marking a 14.2% increase compared to the previous year, according to preliminary data released by the Bulgarian National Bank.

A particularly noteworthy element is the volume of reinvested earnings, which amounted to around €3.7 billion. This represents the main component of foreign investment and reflects a strong willingness among foreign companies already operating in the country to consolidate and expand their activities. Capital inflows also made a positive contribution, while the real estate sector showed a slight negative balance.

Among the most active investor countries were the Netherlands, Greece, and Italy, which ranked among the top sources of investment during the period under review.

Overall, the figures confirm Bulgaria’s strengthening position as a competitive destination for international businesses in Southeast Europe.
