Foreign direct investments in Bulgaria grew by 36% year-on-year in November 2023

Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Bulgaria in January-November reached EUR 3.4bn, up 36% year-on-year, Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) data showed. The bank estimated a positive flow of EUR 83.7m in November alone. Share capital increased by EUR 430.5m in January-November 2023, as did profit reinvestment, which was also in positive territory at EUR 2.9bn.

The largest net positive direct investment flows into the country in January-November 2023 came from the Netherlands (EUR 752.7m), Belgium (EUR 311.6m) and Switzerland (EUR 272.7), while the largest net negative flows were to Israel (EUR 17.2m) and Russia (EUR 16.8m).
